Teeside Autodrome 14/09/24.

British scooter endurance racing at the Teeside autodrome

Well today a few members of the club attended their first Scooter endurance event held at the Teeside autodrome. Not knowing what to expect we set off on the 45 minute drive to the event along the lovely A19 where a very considerate food delivery guy thought it would be a good idea to take that route on his mountain bike to deliver someones much needed fast food hit, casuing a bit of a issue with traffic.

We arrived at the autodrome 10 minutes after kick off, and walking from the carpark we could he the spirited buzz of scooters with their riders hoofing the living daylights out of them, then as we got closer the unmistakable smell of the 2 stroke. After a short stroll to the track through the pit area we were welcomed to a great little circuit with a nice little cafe and plenty of place to view the race and get close to the track where you could feel the pure horse power of the scooters blasting by.

We stopped for only a few hours and chatted with a few friendly faces from the Ground Hogs club and a few other scooterists. As the name suggests this was an 8hr endurance event so there was plenty of acton on the track and in the pits, as all racers and support teams did their best to keep the scoots in working order full of petrol and switching riders (each team can have 3-6 riders) to grind through the 8hr challenge for rider and machine.

All in all, cracking little free event at a great little circuit with a nice cafe and plent ,of seating and places to view the race If you want to know more about this event or more information on future ones visit the website or face book page www.bsecuk.co.uk. result of the overall race results - 1st: Taff Speed, 2nd: Chisel Speed, 3rd: Team Vespa (the originals).

Will defo go to another one and hopefully drag along a few more members and make day of it next year. Ride Safe and stay tuned for another blog coming soon. #STSC
